Narrative:

On September 11th, 2025, deputies assigned to the West County Special Enforcement Unit conducted patrol in the 1500 block of Spinnaker Drive in the unincorporated area of Ventura.  Deputies contacted Shane Prukop in this area and arrested him for narcotics violations.  During the initial field investigation deputies learned that Prukop was in possession of a large amount of ammunition and a 3D printed firearm.  In addition, Prukop was found to be in possession of an expandable baton and pepper spray.  Prukop is a convicted felon and prohibited by the State of California from possessing firearms, ammunition as well as other specific types of weapons.  Prukop was subsequently arrested for crimes related to a prohibited person being in possession of these types of weapons.  Prokup was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for the charges.

On September 12th, 2025, the West County Special Enforcement Unit continued the investigation into Prukop and obtained a search warrant for his storage facility located in the 2000 block of 5th Street in the city of Oxnard.  Deputies served the search warrant and seized several 3D printed firearms and standard firearms consisting of four handguns, five rifles, and one shotgun.  Additionally, various types of ammunition, along with body armor and equipment used to manufacture firearms with a 3D printer were also seized.  Prukop was subsequently arrested for additional counts of possession of an assault weapon, possession of firearms and ammunition by a prohibited person, and 3D printing or manufacturing of a firearm.

The investigation into Prukop is ongoing and anyone with information regarding Prukop or the 3D printing of firearms is encouraged to contact Detective Milton Mendoza at 805-654-2856 or email at [email protected]
