VOLUNTEERS HELP REVITALIZE SAN DIMAS MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM STATION AS PART OF LOWE’S HOMETOWNS 10 MILLION SQUARE FEET OF IMPACT INITIATIVE

September 19, 2025 – San Dimas, CA — Today, Lowe’s red vest associates from Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties rolled up their sleeves alongside the San Dimas Mountain Rescue Team (SDMRT), giving the team’s longtime station a much-needed refresh.

For 70 years, SDMRT’s all-volunteer members have answered calls 24/7, 365 days a year—rescuing hikers, climbers, and community members in the rugged San Gabriel Mountains. From snow and ice rescues to swift water responses, the team has been there when seconds matter. Most recently, SDMRT was the first rescue team on scene at the Eaton Fire in Altadena, one of two devastating fires earlier this year.

Thanks to the Lowe’s Hometowns grant, SDMRT’s station—its home base for missions, training, and community education—will be transformed. Volunteers will help update the worn-out kitchen and flooring, creating a space that can host more public learning events, fundraisers, and community gatherings. Whether it’s sharing a hot cup of coffee after a callout or teaching neighbors the Ten Essentials of Hiking, this project ensures the station remains a welcoming hub for years to come.

“Having a reliable, refreshed space means more than just new floors and cabinets—it means we can keep showing up strong for our community,” said SDMRT Reserve Captain Adrienne Brod. “We’re grateful to Lowe’s and to every volunteer who picked up a hammer, brush, or drill to make this possible.”

Earlier this year, Lowe’s announced its promise to deliver 10 million square feet of impact, measuring the immeasurable difference made when Lowe’s shows up to help. As part of this effort, Lowe’s Hometowns is committing $100 million over five years to renovate and rebuild 100 community-nominated spaces each year that serve as the heartbeats of hometowns across the country.
