Wilmington Police arrest man in connection with yesterday’s shooting incident:
Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with yesterday’s shooting incident.
On September 18, at approximately 1:57 p.m., police responded to the area of West 2nd and North DuPont Streets, in reference to a shooting incident. Police located a 24-year-old male gunshot victim, who arrived to the hospital in stable condition.
While on scene, police obtained a description of the suspect vehicle. A short time later, police located the suspect vehicle and attempted a vehicle stop, at which time the vehicle disregarded and fled the area. The vehicle was later located in the area of Oak and South Broom Streets, where Police took 24-year-old Travon Norton into custody without further incident. Following a brief investigation, police recovered a loaded 9mm handgun.
Norton has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited - Two Counts
- Unlawful Imprisonment
- Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $420,000 cash-only bail.
