Newark Police Department Crime Blotter: Monday September 15 - Sunday September 21, 2025 
The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 15, 2025:
8:21 AM Officer Lor investigated a vehicle theft that occurred on Baine Ave.
11:47 PM Officer Jackman responded to a report of suspicious activity on Newpark Mall Road. It was determined a jewelry scam had occurred in the area.
12:51 PM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau responded to a report of a stolen catalytic converter near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd.
3:31 PM Officer Lor conducted a welfare check on Mowry School Road. A 33-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. He was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
6:08 PM Officer Lara responded to a collision near Tenaya Ave and Darvon St. A 38-year-old female was arrested for driving under the influence and hit & run. She was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2025:
6:56 AM Officer Williams responded to a vehicle theft reported near Cedar & Newark Boulevards. The vehicle was later recovered nearby.
7:17 AM Officer Kim investigated a burglary to a residential garage near Sycamore St & Graham Ave. Multiple bicycles and scooters were reported taken.
7:18 AM Officer Orozco investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Cedar Blvd & Mowry Ave. Industrial testing equipment was reported taken.
8:22 AM Officer Quinonez was dispatched to a report of vandalism and a possible vehicle burglary near McDonald Ave & Cedar Blvd. A vehicle door lock was observed damaged.
3:51 PM Officers responded to a report of arson on Newpark Mall Road. This investigation is currently ongoing.
4:34 PM CSO Lau investigated a bicycle theft from the area of Magnolia St & Dairy Ave.
7:36 PM Officer Dale investigated a report of fraudulent charges and theft from a mailbox near Pandorea Terrace.
11:48 PM Officer Lara responded to an attempted vehicle theft reported near Newark Blvd & Lafayette Ave. The sunroof was shattered to gain entry.
WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2025:
3:44 AM Officer Norvell responded to a vehicle burglary in progress near Central Ave & Cedar Blvd. The vehicle engine bay was cut into, and the door handle was cut open.
11:24 AM Officer C. Torres was dispatched to a burglary near Jarvis Ave & Dumbarton Court. Reported loss included luggage containing electronics.
3:29 PM CSO Mora investigated a package theft near Enterprise Dr & Willow St.
8:58 PM Officer Dale initiated a traffic stop near Cherry St and La Salle Dr. A 36-year-old male was arrested for possession of stolen property, driving with a suspended license, false vehicle registration, and failure to follow court orders. A 42-year-old female was cited for possession of narcotics and was released on scene. The male was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2025:
1:10 AM Officer Lara investigated a stolen vehicle reported on Newpark Mall Road. The vehicle was later recovered.
6:27 AM Officer C. Torres investigated a commercial burglary reported near Musick Ave & Cedar Blvd. A safe and tools were reported taken.
8:16 AM Officer Medina was advised of an unreported stolen vehicle that was recovered by a neighboring agency. Investigation determined the vehicle was stolen from the area of Sycamore St & Graham Ave. The vehicle was returned to the owner.
11:12 AM Officers investigated a commercial burglary reported near Newark & Cedar Boulevards.
1:46 PM Officer Shaffer was dispatched to Central Ave & Willow St for a report of a theft.
4:52 PM CSO Vuong responded to a vehicle burglary reported near Haley St & Cedar Blvd. The rear door lock was damaged and the door was pried opened. The loss is currently unknown.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2025:
1:17 AM Officers investigated a stolen vehicle reported on Newpark Mall Road. The vehicle was later recovered by a neighboring agency.
7:45 PM Officer Swadener conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration near Cherry St and Redeker Pl. A 57-year-old male was cited for driving with a suspended license and possession of narcotics. The passenger, a 28-year-old male, was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2025:
2:34 AM Officer Diaz-Perez responded to a report of an alarm sounding on Mowry School Road. During the security check a 42-year-old male was located in the area and was arrested for possession of narcotics. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
10:00 AM Officer Lor responded to a battery reported near Clark Ave & Sycamore St. A 30-year-old male was arrested for battery and robbery. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
9:10 PM Officer Stevenson responded to a report of domestic violence near Ruschin Dr & Lafayette Ave. A 21-year-old male was arrested for multiple warrants, vandalism, and domestic battery. He was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
9:59 PM Officers responded to a disturbance at the Newark Days carnival. A 24-year-old male was arrested for aggravated assault, possession of narcotics, battery and disorderly conduct. A 29-year-old male was arrested for battery, disorderly conduct, and violation of probation. Both were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
10:33 PM Officer Berlanga investigated a vehicle burglary and report of fraudulent charges on Newpark Mall Road. The vehicle’s sunroof was shattered, and a wallet was taken from the vehicle.
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2025:
7:37 AM Officer Lor was dispatched to a collision reported near Central Ave and Willow St. A 26-year-old male was cited for driving with a suspended license.
9:00 AM Officers were dispatched to a jewelry swap scam near Thornton Ave & St Edwards St. The investigation is currently ongoing.
7:42 PM CSO Vuong responded to a dog bite investigation reported near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd.
8:50 PM Officer Soto responded to a battery reported near Cedar Court & Cedar Blvd. A 35-year-old female was arrested for battery and was transported to Santa Rita Jail for booking.
