SUMMARY: On Sunday, September 21, 2025, at approximately 6:05 p.m., Deputy Carriel from the Fontana Sheriff's Station responded to a 9-1-1 call for service involving an attempted kidnapping of a 4-year-old child. Carriel arrived within minutes and located a male and female adult, later identified as the child's parents, holding down an erratic female on the ground.
Carriel detained the female suspect, later identified as Sariaha Hannah Lopez, and checked on the child. Neither the child nor the child's father were injured. The child's mother sustained injuries to her face and upper body as a result of being attacked by Lopez while Lopez attempted to take the child by force. A records check revealed Lopez is on active parole for assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon.
Lopez was transported to Kaiser Hospital in Fontana for a pre-jail booking. She was later transported to West Valley Detention Center and booked for attempted kidnapping, without further incident.
