The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.
The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from September 7th to September 13th.
September 7th
Sex Registrant Out of Compliance- 1000 El Cerrito Plaza(Parking Lot):
At 1:04 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and discovered the pedestrian was out of compliance as a sex registrant. The pedestrian was placed under arrest. After booking the pedestrian was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Grand Theft- 3020 El Cerrito Plaza (T-Mobile):
At 7:59 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the business and stole merchandise from the displays and fled the scene.
September 8th
Warrant Arrest – Stockton Ave at Kearney St.
At 11:06 AM an officer made a traffic stop and arrested the driver for a warrant. The driver was booked at the police station and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. The driver was driving on a suspended driver license, so their vehicle was towed.
Burglary/Criminal Threats/Assault with a Deadly Weapon – 500 block of Albemarle St.
At 11:39 AM the suspect broke into the victims residence and damaged items. The suspect chased the victim out the house and hit the victim with a golf club. The suspect ran back inside, and the victim went to a neighbor’s house to call 911. Officers arrived, de-escalated the situation and had the suspect walk out of the residence. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Drunk in Public – San Pablo Ave / Cutting Blvd.
At 8:42 PM, officers arrested a subject for public intoxication and transported the subject to county jail.
September 9th
Burglary – 2300 Block of Tulare Ave.
At 8:29 AM, the victim reported the suspect forced entry in their garage and stole three bicycles.
Criminal Threats – 3400 Block of Carlson Blvd.
At 5:48 PM, the victim reported being threatened by an unknown subject.
Trespassing / Drug Paraphernalia / Warrant – 11450 San Pablo Ave.
At 11:35 PM, officers responded to an unwanted subject inside the business. The subject refused to leave and was arrested. After arrest, the subject was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and had a warrant for their arrest. The subject received a citation for the drug paraphernelia and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facilty on the warrant.
September 10th
Vandalism – 10800 block of Kearney St.
At 2:15 PM, the victim reports that the suspect attempted to shatter their window, leaving the window with cracks.
Trespassing and Drunk in Public – 4030 El Cerrito Plaza
At 4:15 PM, the suspect was harassing customers and refused to leave the business. Officers contacted the suspect, who was extremely intoxicated. The suspect was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Battery – 11939 San Pablo Ave.
At 6:01 PM, the security guard reported being pushed by a subject.
Auto Burglary – 6400 Block of Portola Dr.
At 10:52 PM, an unknown suspect broke into the victim’s vehicle and stole items.
Warrant Arrest – 3090 El Cerrito Plaza.
At 1:39 AM, officers arrested a subject with an outstanding warrant. The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Grand Theft – Navellier St / Wildwood Pl.
At 4:50 AM, officers responded to the area for copper wire theft. Suspect fled prior to police arrival.

Burglary – 2000 El Cerrito Plz (Ross):
At 3:59 PM, officers were dispatched to the business for a suspect inside who was stealing merchandise. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
September 13th
Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Ave/ Hill St:
At 1:54 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for an outstanding arrest warrant. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Burglary – 4010 El Cerrito Plz (AT&T):
At 07:17 AM, an officer reports a suspect forced entry into the closed business and stole property.
Stolen Vehicle – 6500 Block of Portola Dr:
At 09:37 AM, an officer reports a suspect stole the victim’s vehicle.
Vandalism – 700 Block of Sea View Dr:
At 12:03 PM, an officer reports a suspect shattered a window on the victim’s vehicle.
Burglary – 300 El Cerrito Plz (Spirit Halloween):
At 2:23 PM, an officer reports several suspects forced entry the previous night and stole merchandise.
Public Intoxication- 800 Block of S.55th :
At 6:52 PM, officers were dispatched to the residence for an unwanted subject. Officers contacted the subject and the resident advised they just wanted the subject to leave the property. Officers noticed the subject was intoxicated and placed them under arrest. After booking, the subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Driving Under the Influence- Moeser Ln/ Norvell Ave:
At 9:24 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for suspicion of DUI. After booking, the driver was issued a citation and released to the custody of a sober relative.
