During a proactive police contact, a juvenile male was arrested for possession of a loaded, concealed firearm.
San Mateo, CA – On September 28, 2025, at 6:09 p.m., a San Mateo Police Department officer made proactive contact with a group of juvenile males and one adult male on the 400 block of Rogell Avenue. A nearby vehicle was found to be associated with and belonged to a 17-year-old juvenile in the group.
In plain view, the officer observed loose, unpackaged marijuana inside the vehicle. Based on the combination of the plain view observation of marijuana, the associated juvenile’s age, and the odor of marijuana, the officer conducted a search of the vehicle. During the search, the officer located two pistols, one of which was concealed/unregistered, and one that was previously reported stolen. Marijuana packaged for sale was also located, along with a functioning digital scale, and $661.00 in U.S. currency.
The 17-year-old juvenile was placed under arrest for possession of a loaded, concealed firearm and possession of marijuana for sale. The juvenile was transported to Hillcrest Juvenile Hall, and the currency was collected and entered as asset forfeiture.
