Summary:

Bike to Hope is a bicycle race that will be starting at Lagunitas Brewery.  There will be three separate races, 65 miles, 35 miles and 10 miles.  The 65-mile race starts at 0800, the 35-mile race starts at 0930 and the 10-mile race starts at 1000.  All three races will depart Lagunitas Brewery and proceed N/B on N. McDowell Blvd.  For the start of each race, a brief shutdown of N/B N. McDowell will be performed to allow the cyclists to safely begin their race.  Each race will continue to Old Redwood Highway where they will turn E/B onto Old Redwood Highway until the racers leave city limits.  For each race, traffic control will occur at the intersection of Old Redwood Highway and N. McDowell to help accommodate the bicyclists safe turn onto Old Redwood Highway.

All Bicyclists in each race will return to Petaluma by coming S/B on Stony Point Road to Industrial Ave then riding East on Corona Road.  The cyclists will then turn N/B on N. McDowell and finish at Lagunitas.

The Bike to Hope race follows the rules of the road race.  However, it has been requested the police department monitor the intersection of Corona Rd at N. McDowell Bl for large groups of cyclists to provide traffic control at the intersection to help cyclists safely navigate the intersection as they turn left onto N. McDowell Bl.

There will be numerous additional cyclists on the listed roadways for this event.  The Petaluma Police Department asks that all motorists to please pay extra attention and use caution when driving in this area.

The Police Department will be working this event to reasonably accommodate any traffic related issues. The Petaluma Police appreciates the public’s patience and requests those who cannot avoid the area to allow plenty of time for travel.
