Carroll Gets 12 Years for Trafficking Meth

On Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2025, 49-year-old Shannon Jerome Carroll pled guilty to 2 counts Felony Trafficking in Methamphetamine; Felony Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine; Felony Possession of Methamphetamine; and Felony Maintain a Vehicle, Dwelling or Place for Controlled Substance.
Carroll was sentenced to a minimum of 150 months and a maximum of 207 months in prison.

On Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, Detective Matt Smith initiated a traffic stop on Carroll in the West Marion area for traffic violations. He was also found to have outstanding warrants against him.

A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up trafficking amounts of methamphetamine and items consistent with distributing them.
“Our detectives and staff continually rise to the task at hand,” said Sheriff Ricky T. Buchanan. “Their dedication and tireless efforts each day are what keep our citizens safe and help get dangerous drugs out of our community.”

Sheriff Buchanan also stated his appreciation for District Attorney Ted Bell and his team for their partnership in “securing justice in this case.”
