Suspect Arrested after Breaking Window to Business and Threatening Employees

LOCATION: 14600 Block of Merrill Avenue, Fontana

SUSPECT: Michael Murrietta, 66- year-old Hispanic Male Transient of Fontana
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, September 30, 2025, deputies from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station responded to the Merrill Crisis Center for a male, identified as Michael Murrietta, acting erratic while attempting to break the window to enter the facility.
While deputies were responding, Murrietta broke the front window and entered the facility. Murrietta picked up a piece of the broken glass and was waving it around in a threatening manner towards facility staff. Fearing for their safety, staff members retreated to a separate area of the facility until deputies arrived. Deputies arrived on scene and established communication with Murrietta. After successful de-escalation efforts by deputies, Murrietta was taken into custody without further incident.
Murrietta was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center. Upon the booking process, Murrietta was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, concealed on his person.
