Police Seek Help Identifying Theft from Auto Suspect

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help identifying the male suspect pictured below, who stole a laptop from an unlocked vehicle on September 22, 2025.

Police officers responded to a theft from an automobile incident that occurred at a residence in the 400 block of South 9th Street. The victim, not realizing that his Dodge Durango SUV was unlocked, parked it in the driveway at approximately 11:28 a.m.

When he returned several hours later at 7:25 p.m., his HP Z Book laptop and its casing were missing.  On surveillance video, the suspect entered the victim’s vehicle at approximately 6:20 p.m. and exited carrying a black backpack.

The suspect, who walked northbound on South 9th Street, wore a black hoodie with “Aspen” written in blue on the back, black pants, and black shoes.

Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
