Police Seek Help Identifying Shooting Suspect
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help in identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
At approximately 5:11 p.m., Newark Police were alerted to a shooting in progress by members of the Elizabeth Police Department who were working at Ludlow Street and Van Vechten Street. The Elizabeth Police Officers observed the suspect discharge a firearm while riding an electric bike and aiming at a male victim, who fled, also on an electric bike, without being struck by gunfire.
Detectives investigating this incident located surveillance footage of the suspect and are seeking the public’s help in identifying him. He is described as a Black male wearing a red hat, a hunter green hooded sweater, and riding a black electric bike.
Director Miranda urges anyone with information regarding this suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
