Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help in locating Zahyir Beard-Brown, 18, of Newark, who is wanted for questioning about a shooting in which he was injured on Monday, September 15, 2025.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., Police Officers were on patrol in the area of Bradley Court, a public housing development on North Munn Avenue, when they heard possible shots being fired.
Police Officers responded to the complex and found Beard-Brown lying on the ground in the courtyard suffering from several gunshot wounds. Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived to transport him to University Hospital. Officers canvassed the area and located four 9mm shell casings, two live 9mm ballpoint rounds, and two projectiles. Detectives from the Major Crimes Shooting Response Team towed a vehicle connected to the shooting – a black Hyundai bearing temporary New Jersey registration (F397122)
Beard-Brown, a Black male, is 5’8” and 145 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair.
