El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from September 21st - 27th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from September 21st  to September 27th.     
 

September 21st
Warrant Arrest- El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1:35 AM, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and discovered the subject had an outstanding warrant. The subject was transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. After booking, the subject was released on a citation. 
 
Assault with a Deadly Weapon / Petty Theft / Drug Paraphernalia, Warrant Arrest – BART Path / Manila Avenue:
At 7:20 AM, officers responded to the area regarding a subject brandishing a machete. Officers determined the victim was walking back to their encampment when the subject lunged at the victim with the machete. Officers located and detained two subjects who were identified by the victim. A machete and some of the victim’s property were recovered. The subject responsible for the assault was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. The other subject had a warrant for their arrest and was released on a citation.

Driving Under the Influence- San Pablo Ave / Cutting Blvd:
At 2:20 PM, officers were dispatched to a vehicle stopped in the roadway with the driver slumped behind the steering wheel. Upon arrival, officers determined the subject was under the influence of alcohol. The driver was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Shoplifting / Warrant Arrest – 11545 San Pablo Ave (Ross/DD’s):
At 2:38 PM, officers were dispatched to the Ross store for a shoplift that just occurred. Officers learned the suspect stole from Ross and then walked to DD’s. Officers located the suspect inside of DD's Discount. The suspect was found to have a warrant for their arrest and was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Driving Under the Influence- Fairmount Ave/ San Pablo Ave:
At 11:49 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving under the influence. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, the driver was issued a citation and released to a sober friend.

September 22nd
Fraud – 1400 Blk of Devonshire Dr
At 9:47 am, the victim reports they were scammed out of money.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 2600 Block of Arlington Blvd
At 10:34 am, Officers recovered a previously stolen vehicle.

Auto Burglary – 11760 San Pablo Ave
At 4:53 pm, the victim reports their vehicle was broken into and items were taken.

Warrant Arrest – 6060 Central Ave.
At 11:13 PM, officers arrested a subject on several outstanding warrants.  The subject was released at the scene on a citation.

Auto Burglary – 10636 San Pablo Ave.
At 4:50 AM, the victim reported their vehicle had been burglarized.
 
September 23rd
Warrant Arrest / Drunk in Public – 10012 San Pablo Ave.
At 6:53 PM, officers arrested a subject on an outstanding warrant.  The subject was also highly intoxicated.  The subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility. 
 
Warrant Arrest / Vandalism – El Dorado Ave / Carlson Blvd.
At 10:34 PM, officers responded to the area for a subject breaking several car windows.  Officers located the subject, and they were placed under arrest.  The subject also had several warrants for their arrest.  The subject was later transported to the MArtinez Detention Facility.
 
September 24th
Fraud – 10900 San Pablo Ave
At 9:34 am, the victim reports they were scammed out of money.

Grand Theft – 9800 San Pablo Ave (Wells Fargo)
At 11:11 am, the victim reports money was taken from their bank account fraudulently.

Elder Dependent Abuse – 600 Block of Liberty St.
At 2:25 pm, a caregiving company called to report a dependent adult was left alone for several hours against policy.

Shoplifting – 160 El Cerrito Plaza (Sees Candy)
At 5:19 pm, the victim reports candy was stolen from the store.
 
September 25th
Auto Burglary x3 – Santa Fe Ave and Ward Ave
At 8:01 am, the victims reported their vehicles were broken into overnight.  

Petty Theft – 600 Block of Kearney St.
At 10:48 am, the victim reports their handicapped placard was taken from their vehicle approximately one week ago.

Petty Theft – 6510 Stockton Ave (El Cerrito Library)
At 12:43 pm, the victim reports their cell phone was stolen while it was charging at the library.

Public Intoxication/Possession of paraphernalia & controlled substance – Moeser Ln & Shevlin Dr
At 1:46 pm, Officers arrested a subject who was intoxicated in public and was in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. Transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant Arrest – 6060 Central Ave (Nations)
At 5:03 pm, Officers arrested a subject for an outstanding warrant.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave / Lincoln Ave.
At 6:34 PM, officers responded to the area for a suspicious person.  Officers contacted the subject who had an outstanding warrant.  The subject was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

September 26th
Nothing to report

September 27th
Warrant Arrest - S.55th St / Creely Ave:
At 1:21 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the passenger for a parole violation warrant. After booking, the subject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Battery / Vandalism- 11344 San Pablo Ave (Denny’s):
At 3:34 AM, an officer reports an employee asked two subjects to leave the business after they refused to stop smoking inside the business. While the subjects were exiting the business one of them pushed the employee and broke the handle of the front door.

Driving Under the Influence- San Pablo Ave / Central Ave:
At 9:58 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department then issued a citation and released to a sober friend.
