FIRE RESTRICTIONS IN EFFECT – PASSAIC COUNTY The New Jersey Forest Fire Service has continued the Stage 2 Fire Restrictions for Passaic County due to high fire danger. What Stage 2 Means: • All fires in wooded areas are prohibited unless in an elevated prepared fireplace, charcoal grill, or stove that uses electricity, liquid, or gas fuel. • An elevated prepared fireplace must: • Be made of steel, stone, brick, or concrete • Be at least 1 foot above the ground • Be surrounded by at least a 10-foot radius of mineral soil These restrictions are in place to help prevent wildfires during this period of increased fire risk.
