Public Arts Advisory Committee seeks Jubilee Center history
Residents who founded, operated, attended, or fundraised for the Jubilee Center are invited to attend a community meeting on Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. in the Senior Room of the Multi-Service Center. The City seeks to gather personal stories and memories from the early days of the organization which will be used by the Hoboken Public Art Advisory Committe to inform a commissioned public art piece in its honor.
The Jubilee Center, located at 601 Jackson St, was purchased by the City in 2021 to be utilized as a home for nonprofits and educational institutions. It was originally founded in 1995 to help meet the social and economic needs of children and families by offering after-school programs during the school year for local youth.
The public art installation will be commissioned and paid for by the Public Arts Program as established by an executive order, signed by Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla establishing the Public Arts Trust.
