Crime Bulletin Covering the Weeks of September 15 - October 5, 2025

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Robberies

There were two robberies and one attempted robbery during the past three weeks.

On Friday, 09-19-25, at approximately 3:58 a.m., at the intersection of Park Plaza Drive and South Mayfair Avenue, a suspect entered a taxi and stole $20 belonging to the taxi driver. When the driver asked for the money back, the suspect threatened to hit or stab him with a lemon squeezer. The suspect exited the taxi and challenged the driver to a fight. The driver refused and said he was calling the police, at which point the suspect ran away. Shortly thereafter, an officer located the suspect in a utility closet. When the officer attempted to open the door, the suspect immediately closed it. The suspect eventually came out, and officers were able to arrest him and recover the $20. The suspect, a 39-year-old San Francisco resident, was booked into jail for robbery.

On Wednesday, 09-24-25, at approximately 3:28 p.m., officers were dispatched to Mission Street and Templeton Avenue on a report of a disturbance on a bus. When officers arrived, they located the victim on the sidewalk of Mission Street. The victim stated that the suspect had struck him twice in the head and took $7, a cell phone, and two pairs of Apple earbuds from him. The victim pointed out the suspect, who was standing across the street. The suspect, a 19-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for robbery.

On Sunday, 09-28-25, at approximately 7:22 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Gellert Park on Wembley Drive on a report of a suspect breaking into a storage container. A witness stated that he saw the suspect attempting to break into the storage container and peek inside. The storage container’s doors were bent outward. Meanwhile, the suspect exited through the bathroom doors and was arrested. Additionally, another officer was dispatched to the 700 block of Niantic Avenue and spoke with a victim of an attempted robbery. The victim stated that earlier, at approximately 7:05 a.m. at Gellert Park, while he was taking trash to his work vehicle, the suspect approached him and asked for his keys. The victim stated that he could not give the suspect his keys. The suspect then began rummaging through the bag of garbage and asked if he could throw it away in a nearby garbage can, which the victim allowed. The suspect eventually asked for the victim’s keys again. The victim again told the suspect that he would not give him his keys and stated multiple times that the police would be called if he was not left alone. As the victim tried to call the police, the suspect slapped the victim’s cell phone out of his hand. When the victim reached for his phone, the suspect grabbed his arm. The victim was able to break free, retrieve his cell phone, and enter his vehicle. As the victim attempted to leave, the suspect jumped onto the hood of the vehicle. The victim was eventually able to drive away and called the police. The suspect, a 38-year-old San Francisco resident, was booked into jail for attempted burglary, attempted robbery, false imprisonment, and preventing the use of a cell phone to call 911.

Residential Burglaries

There were two residential burglaries during the past three weeks.

On Tuesday, 09-23-25, at approximately 4:03 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 100 block of Hillcrest Drive on a report of a residential burglary. The victim stated that she woke up to the sound of something being ripped or torn. The victim looked outside her window and saw one of the suspects, described as a Black male wearing a red hoodie with the hood on, a black hat, and black pants. The suspect made a hand gesture as if calling someone over. This suspect had fled. The victim then saw another suspect’s feet parallel to the ground, as if he were lying down and moving toward the inside of the garage. The victim went downstairs and saw the suspect standing in the corner of her garage, attempting to hide while holding the victim’s tools that had been taken from a toolbox. The victim screamed, and her friend came down to the garage. The suspect tried to leave through a hole in the garage door. The victim and her friend held onto the suspect, and the victim called the police. The suspect, a 26-year-old Daly City resident, was arrested and booked into jail for residential burglary, possession of burglary tools, and possession of a controlled substance.

On Saturday, 09-27-25, between approximately 10:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., on the 200 block of Coronado Avenue, a victim had his keys stolen from his residence. The victim stated that he had left his front door unlocked, with his keys hanging on a key hook near the door. When he returned, the front door was locked, and his keys were missing.

On Tuesday, 09-30-25, between approximately 1:00 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., on the 600 block of Niantic Avenue, a suspect cut a lock securing a gate to a parking lot and stole two trailers. One victim was able to locate his trailer in the parking lot of Mission Plaza. Officers later located the other trailer at the suspect’s residence in Hayward. The suspect, a 46-year-old Hayward resident, was arrested and booked into jail for commercial burglary, two counts of vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, petty theft with two or more priors, and possession of a controlled substance. Both trailers are listed under the Stolen Vehicles section below.

A suspect had kicked the front door, breaking the glass, crawled into the business, stole cartons of cigarettes, and then fled on foot. A short time later, the suspect was located by a sergeant. The suspect, a 63-year-old San Francisco resident, was arrested and booked into jail for burglary, resisting arrest, and petty theft with two or more priors.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
