| Narrative: | |||||
| On 10/08/2025, at approximately 1230 hours, deputies from the Headquarters Patrol Station responded to a call of shots fired into a residence in the 400 block of Stroube Street in the unincorporated area of Oxnard known as El Rio. No one was injured due to the gun fire. During the initial investigation, deputies located a residence that had sustained damage from gun fire and were able to determine the incident stemmed from an ongoing domestic violence incident. Deputies were quickly able to identify the suspects that fled in a vehicle following the shooting. Shortly after fleeing the scene the vehicle was located at a gas station in the City of Camarillo. Deputies from the Camarillo Police Station attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on the vehicle, however, the vehicle again immediately fled at an extremely high rate of speed, driving south on the 101 Freeway. The vehicle was later located abandoned near the 101 Freeway and Kanan Road. Detectives assigned to the Headquarters Patrol Station responded to the scene and were able to identify the suspects as Juan Hernandez Nunez and Angel Fuentes Hernandez. Headquarters Detectives partnered with detectives from the West County Special Enforcement Unit and Thousand Oaks Special Enforcement Unit to cooperatively locate and arrest Nunez and Hernandez. During the investigation Headquarters Detectives were able to gather enough evidence to author a search warrant for Nunez’s residence in the city of Sylmar. Detectives assigned to the West County Special Enforcement Unit served the signed search warrant at Nunez’s residence and located additional evidence linking Nunez and Hernandez to the crime. Nunez was booked into custody at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Shooting at an Occupied Dwelling, and making Criminal Threats. Nunez is being held on a $500,000.00 bond. Hernandez was also booked into custody at the Pre-Trial Detention facility for being an accessory to the shooting and was later released after posting a $10,000.00 bond. Nunez is scheduled to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on 10/10/2025 at 1:30pm. |
