Mayor Carley's Letter on Two Major Property Tax Relief Programs
Dear Neighbor,
As Mayor, I’ve been committed to making life more affordable for everyone who calls South Brunswick home. That’s why I want to make sure you know about two major property tax relief programs now available to New Jersey residents, thanks to our legislative leaders: ANCHOR and StayNJ.
● StayNJ allows homeowners 65 years old and older to cut your property taxes in half—saving you up to $6,500 a year. This historic program is designed to help seniors stay in their homes and
communities they love.
● ANCHOR is a program that provides direct property tax relief to homeowners under 65 years old and renters of all ages. Homeowners may be eligible for up to $1,450 in relief, while renters can receive up to $700 back.
Together, these programs represent the largest property tax relief effort in our state’s history. But to receive these savings, you must apply.
The deadline to apply for ANCHOR and StayNJ is October 31, 2025. You can apply online at www.nj.gov/treasury/taxation or call 1-888-238-1233 for assistance. If you need help completing your application, please contact one of our three state representatives:
● Senator Andrew Zwicker,
● Assemblyman Roy Freiman,
● Assemblywoman Mitchelle Drulis
Our town works hard every day to keep taxes stable and services strong, and these state programs will put some money back in your pocket. I encourage every eligible resident to take advantage of this opportunity.
Thank you for being an active part of our community.
Sincerely,
Charlie Carley, Mayor
