In preparation for the Nor’easter expected on Sunday, October 12, and Monday, October 13, residents are asked to help prevent flooding by checking the storm drains near their homes or businesses.

• If it is safe to do so, please clear leaves, sticks, and debris from storm drains to allow water to flow freely.
• If a drain is blocked or cannot be safely cleared, contact the Department of Public Works to report it at 732-775-0900.
• When raking leaves into piles, place loose leaves in the street about 6 inches from the curb and at least 10 feet from storm drains to allow water flow and prevent flooding.
• The Department of Public Works will also be preemptively inspecting and clearing storm drains throughout the city ahead of the storm.
