Advisory

Woodbridge Avenue Construction

Starting Monday, October 13, 2025, the first phase of construction (water main replacement) will begin on Woodbridge Avenue in Highland Park from Volkert Street past Crowells Road into Edison. Work will take approximately four (4) months and we anticipate the following changes to traffic and parking patterns:

On Monday, October 13, 2025 (for one day only), there will be no parking on either side of Woodbridge Avenue from Volkert Street to Crowells Road to allow the contractor to prepare the roadway for the new traffic pattern and to stage their equipment in preparation for construction activities.

Beginning Tuesday, October 14, 2025 and continuing through the duration of the water main replacement phase:

No parking will be permitted on the westbound lane of Woodbridge Avenue (heading toward New Brunswick).

Limited parking will be available on the eastbound lane (heading toward Edison).

Parking availability will change on the eastbound side of the roadway as construction progresses eastward toward Edison. Please pay attention to the signs as parking availability will change during this time.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area if possible or allow for additional travel time when passing through the construction zone.

After the replacement of the water main, the project will transition into the roadway reconstruction phase, which will include new curbs, sidewalks, storm water drainage, and repaving of the project area. The Borough is thankful to Middlesex County for its partnership in making this essential project happen. We greatly appreciate the patience of all of our residents, businesses, and visitors as we work to improve the Borough’s infrastructure.
