Advisory

A strong coastal storm will impact the area beginning tonight and lasting through Monday with high winds, heavy rain, and coastal flooding

 A strong Nor'easter is expected to impact our area beginning overnight tonight and lasting through Monday. A State of Emergency has been declared ahead of the storm.
According to the National Weather Service, the latest forecast includes:

  • Winds up to 60 mph
  • 3–5 inches of rain
  • Moderate coastal flooding
  • Significant beach erosion
Key high tide times to monitor for coastal flooding:
  • Sunday afternoon high tide: 12:29 PM
  • Monday morning high tide: 1:12 AM
Flood-prone areas, including Highway 35, the Shark River area, and the Oceanfront, may experience road closures. Residents in these areas should secure property and move vehicles to higher ground.
All residents should take steps to secure any outdoor furniture and decorations before strong winds begin tonight.

  • Report any hazards, such as downed wires, immediately to the Belmar Police Department.
The Belmar and Lake Como Office of Emergency Management continues to monitor and coordinate with the Monmouth County OEM and other public safety partners to ensure storm preparedness.
