DATE/TIME: October 13, 2025 / 2:53 a.m.

INCIDENT: Assault With Deadly Weapon, Strong Arm Robbery, Probation Violation

LOCATION: 10900 block of Cedar Avenue, Bloomington

SUSPECT(S): Alberto Ruiz, 38-year-old, resident of Bloomington

VICTIM(S): Confidential

SUMMARY: On Monday, October 13, 2025, at approximately 2:53 a.m., deputies from the Fontana Sheriff's Station responded to a 9-1-1 call from a victim near a gas station who reported being struck in the face with a blunt object and had his wallet taken by force. The victim remained on the phone with dispatch providing a description of the subject and direction of travel, on a bicycle.

Deputy Alas arrived within minutes, located the victim and provided medical aid. Alas broadcast information to responding officers which led to the location of the suspect who was approximately 3 blocks north of where the incident took place. The suspect was taken into custody with the assistance of the Rialto Police Department.

35-year-old, Alberto Ruiz, was positively identified as the suspect responsible for the assault and robbery. Ruiz was discovered to be on active Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS) for a previous felony conviction in San Bernardino County. Ruiz was arrested for PC 245, assault with a deadly weapon, PC 211, robbery, and booked at West Valley Detention Center.

Post Release Community Supervision is a result of California Assembly Bill 109. As part of Governor Jerry Brown’s Realignment Plan, or Assembly Bill 109, was signed to comply with a U.S. Supreme Court decision requiring the State to lower its prison population by 30,000: offenders with non-violent, non-sexual, and non-serious convictions will serve reduced sentences in county jails and be placed on local supervision through county Probation.
