Topanga Canyon Open

Caltrans crews have reopened the 3.6-mile stretch of Topanga Canyon Boulevard/State Route 27 (SR-27) between Pacific Coast Highway and Grand View Drive that closed Monday night due to rainstorms.
Maintenance crews were out clearing minor debris and mud flows while the road was closed Tuesday, and it is now reopened to the public with previous restrictions. Crews will continue to assess storm impacts.
This stretch of SR-27 is an active work zone for ongoing recovery efforts from the Palisades Fire and winter storms. It is currently closed to the public from midnight to 5 a.m. daily and has traffic restrictions including a one-way traffic control section south of the Topanga town center.
For the safety of workers and one another, motorists must obey the 25-mph speed limit in the work zones, along with any posted signs and traffic controllers. There is no parking, no stopping and no pedestrians allowed in the work zones.
Motorists are advised to take extra caution, especially around blind curves in case of stalled traffic at one-way sections, and be alert for workers and slow-moving vehicles. Fines can be doubled in a work zone.
Workers took precautions Monday to prepare for the storm by moving equipment, placing k-rail and sandbags and stabilizing current retaining wall and other project work on SR-27.
Check current traffic conditions on the Caltrans Quickmap. Caltrans will also post updates to its social media pages.
More information about Caltrans’s emergency work can be found at the Palisades Fire Emergency Repairs website.
