Police Seek Help Identifying Aggravated Assault Suspect
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help in identifying the male suspect pictured below in connection with an aggravated assault that occurred on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
At approximately 6:19 a.m., Police responded to South 10th Street and Springfield Avenue on a call of an aggravated assault. A male suspect, who had boarded an NJ Transit bus at 21st Street in Irvington, leaned around the protective barrier for the bus driver and spat on her face, hair, and clothing. No verbal altercation had occurred between the suspect and the female bus driver. The surveillance camera on the bus captured the incident.
Detectives investigating this incident describe the suspect as a young Black male, approximately 5’3” tall and 140 pounds. He was wearing a dark-colored hooded sweater and black pants.
