On 10/10/2025, at approximately 1115 hours Camarillo Patrol Station Deputies responded to the area of 200 Skyway Drive in the City of Camarillo, in reference to a male juvenile seen walking with no shoes. Upon deputies’ arrival, they contacted the male juvenile. During the preliminary investigation, it was determined the male juvenile had been robbed at gunpoint by an unknown male suspect. The suspect stole multiple pieces of property from the male juvenile and fled the scene.
Based on the violent nature of the crime, the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit (SEU) began investigating. Detectives utilized various investigative resources and identified the suspect as, City of Oxnard resident, (S) Diego Lopez (hereinafter, referred to as Lopez). During the investigation, Lopez’ vehicle was identified.
Detectives from Camarillo SEU, the Camarillo Directed Enforcement Unit (DEU) and the Camarillo Investigations Bureau began efforts to locate Lopez. Lopez’ vehicle was subsequently located in the area of S. Ventura Road at W. 5th Street in the City of Oxnard. Detectives conducted a high-risk vehicle stop of Lopez’ vehicle. Lopez complied and was taken into custody without incident. Lopez was accompanied by an adult female passenger who was later released from the scene.
A subsequent search of Lopez’ vehicle was conducted. During the search, detectives located a loaded unregistered .45 Caliber 1911 style handgun. Detectives also located property belonging to the victim.
Lopez was subsequently transported to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Pre-Trial Detention Facility and booked for the following violations of the California Penal Code: 211 – [Robbery], 245(a)(2) – [Assault with a Deadly Weapon / Firearm], 273a(a) – [Child Endangerment likely to Produce Great Bodily Injury or Death], 27545 – [Felony Unlawful Transfer of a Firearm], 25850(c)(6) – [ Possession of a Loaded Firearm in Vehicle], and 25400(a)(1) – [ Possession of a Concealed Firearm].
