El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from October 5th to 11th

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from October 5th to October 11th.     
 
October 5th
Possession of a Concealed Firearm - San Pablo Ave / Lincoln Ave:
At 2:27 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop. While speaking to the driver, the officer noticed a concealed firearm in the waistband of the driver. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. After booking, the driver was issued a citation and released.

Stolen Vehicle - 11700 Block of San Pablo Ave:
At 2:54 AM, an officer was contacted by an officer from another jurisdiction advising they had located the victim’s vehicle abandoned in their city. The El Cerrito officer contacted the victim and confirmed her vehicle had been stolen.

Theft - 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshall’s):
At 8:57 PM, an officer reports the victim put down her property while trying on some clothes and an unknown suspect stole it.

Trespassing - 500 Block of Oak St:
At 10:54 PM, an officer responded to the residence for an unwanted subject who was setting up camp in the carport. The victim placed the subject under citizen’s arrest for Tresspessing, due to the ongoing issue. The subject was issued a citation and asked to leave. 

October 6th
Grand Theft – 3200 Yosemite Avenue
At 9:09 AM, the victim reports their catalytic converter was stolen overnight.  

Petty Theft – 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway)
At 10:00 AM, the victim reports their backpack was stolen.

October 7th
Vandalism – 7400 Block of Seaview Place
At 7:47 AM, the victim reports their vehicle’s window was broken.

Warrant Arrest – 225 El Cerrito Plaza
At 1:55 AM, a subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant and they were transported to the Martinez Detention Center.
 
October 8th
Petty Theft / Criminal Threats – San Pablo Avenue & Lincoln Avenue
At 7:12 AM, the victim reports their backpack was taken from a bench.  After dropping the backpack, the suspect yelled threats at the victim. The subject was located by officers and placed under arrest.

Warrant Arrest – 11450 San Pablo Ave
At 6:10 PM, a subject was arrested for an outstanding warrant. The subject was issued a citation with a new court date and released on scene.

October 9th
Shoplifting – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshalls)
At 5:07 PM, officers responded to a theft in progress.  Officers located the suspect at the BART station, placed them under arrest, suspect was cited and released.

Shoplifting / Petty Theft with Priors – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshall’s)
At 6:03 PM, officers responded to a theft in progress.  Officers located the suspect, and the suspect was arrested.  The suspect had a medical condition and was released on citation.

Shoplifting / Petty Theft with Priors / False Identification / Drug Paraphernalia / Warrants – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshall’s)
At 8:35 PM, officers responded to a theft in progress.  Officers located the suspect, and the suspect was arrested.  The suspect provided a false name, had drug paraphernalia and several outstanding warrants. Suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Shoplifting / Petty Theft with Priors / Drug Paraphernalia / Warrant – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshall’s)
At 9:04 PM, officers responded to a theft in progress.  Officers located the suspect, and the suspect was arrested.  The suspect had drug paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant. Suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Shoplifting / Petty Theft with Priors – 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshall’s)
At 9:21 PM, officers responded to a theft in progress.  Officers located the suspect, and the suspect was arrested.  The suspect was transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

October 10th
Shoplift – 11545 San Pablo Ave (Ross):
At 12:37 PM, an unidentified suspect stole merchandise.

Warrant / Controlled Substance / Paraphernalia – Mira Vista Ave / Barrett Ave:
At 4:50 PM, an officer arrested a suspect on a warrant.  The arrestee also had narcotics and a pipe.  The susbject was transported to the Martinez Detention Facilty.

Residential Burglary - 1200 Block of Liberty St:
At 6:58 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect entered the victim’s residence via an unsecured window and stole property.

October 11th
Driving Under the Influence- San Pablo Ave / Knott Ave:
At 1:24 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for suspicion of driving under the influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation and released to a sober friend.

Identity Theft – 10300 San Pablo Ave:
At 10:25 AM, an officer reports accounts were opened in the victim’s name without their permission.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery- 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 8:12 PM, an officer located the victim’s stolen vehicle unoccupied. 
 
Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Ave / Fairmount Ave:
At 10:52 PM, an officer recognized a subject with an outstanding warrant. The officer detained the subject and transported them to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. After booking, the subject was released with a citation.
