Occupied Residential Burglary - Glenwood Road. MV burglary attempt Dunham Avenue.
On October 19th, 2025 at approximately 4:57 AM, the Cranford Police Department was dispatched to a Glenwood Road residence for a report of a residential burglary and attempted motor vehicle theft after the fact.
It was later determined by responding officers that three suspects had entered the home and were actively walking around inside the residence. When a dog began to bark, the three suspects fled the scene in a dark, mid-sized sedan, possibly a BMW. The residents were home at the time of this early morning burglary, and it is worth noting that the residents had a BMW parked on the property.
A short while later on Columbia Avenue, a patrol unit located a dark BMW matching the suspect vehicle description, which fled from police at a high rate of speed.
Subsequently, a resident of Dunham Avenue reported that their BMW was entered overnight. Surveillance video showed what appears to be the same suspect BMW pulling up to the victim's vehicle at the time of this vehicle burglary.
The Cranford Police Department and other surrounding police agencies within Union County have seen an uptick in high-end vehicles being targeted by vehicle thieves. Please continue to remove key fobs from your vehicles when they are parked. Also, check that your security cameras are operational.
