Fatal Traffic Collision Involving Motorcyclist and Pedestrian- Broadway and Williams St.

**UPDATE-corrected information. The pedestrian who was killed was 25 years old. The prior release was incorrect.

Santa Maria, Calif. – On Saturday, October 18, 2025, at approximately 8:35 p.m., the Santa Maria Police Department, along with the Santa Maria Fire Department and American Medical Response (AMR), responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Broadway and Williams Street.

Upon arrival, officers located both a motorcyclist and a pedestrian lying in the roadway with significant injuries. Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was crossing eastbound in the north crosswalk of Williams Street when he was struck by a motorcyclist traveling northbound on Broadway in the number one lane. The impact caused the pedestrian to be thrown to the roadway and the motorcyclist to be ejected from his motorcycle.

Both individuals were transported to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment. Unfortunately, the pedestrian, a 54-year-old male from Santa Maria, succumbed to his injuries. The motorcyclist, a 32-year-old male, also from Santa Maria, sustained serious injuries and is receiving medical care.

The Santa Maria Police Department Traffic Unit responded to the scene and is conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of the collision. Preliminary findings indicate that alcohol may have been a factor in the collision. The roadway was closed for several hours while investigators processed the scene.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has additional information is asked to contact Officer Medrano at (805) 928-3781 ext. 1139.
