Meridian Anti-Drug Coalition and Republic Services Partner for DEA Sponsored Prescription Drug Take-Back Event
MERIDIAN, ID – The Meridian Anti-Drug Coalition (MADC), in collaboration with Republic Services, invites community members to take part in the upcoming Prescription Drug Take-Back Event on Saturday, October 25, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Republic Services, 2130 W. Franklin Rd., Meridian, ID.
This convenient, drive-through event offers a safe and responsible way to dispose of expired, unused, or unwanted prescription medications—helping prevent misuse and helps protect the environment. The effort is part of the DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, a nationwide initiative aimed at reducing prescription drug misuse and preventing potential abuse.
Why Participate?
Prescription drug misuse often begins at home. Studies show that most misused medications are obtained from family or friends. According to the Idaho Healthy Youth Survey (2021), nearly 74% of Idaho youth who misused prescription drugs reported getting them from their own home. Proper disposal is a simple yet powerful step toward keeping our community safe.
The community’s participation makes a real difference. During last year’s Fall and Spring Take-Back Days, residents safely disposed of 1,408 pounds of medication. These numbers underscore the continued importance of safe medication disposal and community involvement.
