Transient Man Strikes Passing Vehicle with Metal Pipe

LOCATION: Valley Boulevard / Live Oak Avenue, Fontana
SUSPECT: Robert Delira, 63- year-old Hispanic male, transient of Fontana
VICTIM: Confidential
SUMMARY: On Saturday, October 18, 2025, at approximately 4:37 p.m., deputies from the Fontana Sheriff’s Station responded to the area of Valley Boulevard and Redwood Avenue in the county area regarding a Hispanic male, later identified as Robert Delira, walking in lanes of traffic and hitting passing vehicles with a metal pipe.
When Deputies arrived on scene they located Delira walking in the roadway near Valley Boulevard and Live Oak Avenue. Delira was still holding an approximate 4-foot metal pipe and initially refused to drop it after given commands to do so. After successful de-escalation efforts by deputies, Delira eventually dropped the pipe and was detained without further incident.
Upon investigation, it was determined Delira struck a victim’s vehicle with the metal pipe, causing damage. The victim attempted to speak with Delira, at which time Delira attempted to hit the victim numerous times with the metal pipe.
Delira was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for, PC245(a)(1), – Assault With a Deadly Weapon and, PC594(b)(1) – Felony Vandalism.
