3 Murder Suspects Captured in 2 Joint Law Enforcement Operations.
SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN 
On May 21, 2025, the Clayton County Police Department responded to a Person Shot call on the 2110 block of Mt. Zion.
The victim was approached by two suspects in an attempted robbery of his watch and a physical altercation ensued. The suspects shot the victim three times and fled the scene.
Through good old-fashioned police work, the Clayton County Police Department was able to identify the duo.
On May 21, 2025, the Clayton County Police Department took warrants out on the 2 for:
Teon Smith
-Murder
- Robbery
-Theft by taking
Xavier Pickett
-Murder
-Theft by taking
-Possession of firearm during a crime
Xavier Pickett was taken into custody by the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Teon Smith turned himself in to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office.
On October 19, 2025, the City of Jonesboro and Clayton County School Police Department responded to a Person Shot call on the 1000 block of Fifth Ave. Upon arriving on scene, officers observed 2 victims sustained gunshot wounds, 1 victim sustained one gunshot to the abdomen and the other sustained 1 gunshot to the thigh and 2 to the head.
The Clayton County School Police & Jonesboro Police Department worked throughout the night and warrants were taken out on Salvador Rodriguez for:
-Malice Murder
-Aggravated Assault
-Aggravated Assault
-Possession of a weapon during a crime
-Possession of weapon in an unauthorized location
-Possession of weapon on school property
During the investigation, it was determined not only was Salvador Rodriguez armed and dangerous, he was also in the United States illegally, being removed twice in the past.
The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office received the warrants and reached out to Homeland Security Investigations (HSI),
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO), and the US. Marshals.
Within 48 hours of all Law Enforcement Agencies working together, Salvador Rodriguez was taken into custody in Chattanooga, Tennessee by the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force and HSI.
