The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from October 12th to October 18th.
October 12th
Battery – 10900 San Pablo Ave:
At 5:45 PM, officers were flagged down in the safe exchange zone as a couple struck each other during a child exchange. It was unclear who was the primary aggressor. A case will be forwarded to the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office for review.
October 13th
Petty Theft – 300 El Cerrito Plaza (Spirit Halloween):
At 3:29 PM, an officer reports an unidentified suspect stole the victim’s purse approximately 8:00 PM yesterday.
October 14th
Assault – Lincoln Ave and Lexington Ave
At 8:52 AM, the victim reports they were slapped while walking their dog.
Petty Theft – 10636 San Pablo Ave (24hr Fitness)
At 8:55 AM, the victim reports their wallet was stolen from their backpack which was stored in a locker at the gym.
Auto Burglary – Schmidt Ln and Rivera St
At 9:49 AM, victims in the area report their vehicles were entered and items from their glove boxes and center consoles were strewn about.
October 15th
Grand Theft – 2000 Block of Harper St
At 2:04 PM, the victim reports their laptop was stolen from their vehicle.
Petty Theft – 10200 San Pablo Ave
At 3:56 PM, the victim reports their work cell phone was taken from their vehicle.
October 16th
Obtaining Property by False Pretenses – 410 El Cerrito Plaza (Verizon)
At 2:27 PM, the victim reports their Verizon account was hacked and a cell phone was purchased.
Obtaining Property by False Pretenses – 11755 San Pablo Ave (El Cerrito Honda)
At 2:09 PM, a suspect ordered and purchased parts using the victim’s bank card. The next day when the suspect showed up to pick up the parts they called the El Cerrito Police Department and officers responded to the Honda dealership and arrested the suspect. He was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and then transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Possession of a Concealed Firearm – San Pablo Ave / Manila Ave.
At 11:07 PM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for having a concealed firearm inside the vehicle. The driver was later released on a citation.
October 17th
Shoplifting- 6000 El Cerrito Plaza (Marshall’s):
At 8:46 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect exited the business with unpaid merchandise.
October 18th
Grand Theft – 3200 block of Yosemite Ave:
At 9:25 AM, an officer reports two ebikes were stolen between 10/17 and 10/18.
Vehicle Theft – 1000 block of Liberty St:
At 9:54 AM, an officer reports theft of a vehicle between 7:00 AM and 8:15 AM this morning.
Petty Theft - 11800 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 6:00 PM, an officer reports a known suspect stole the victim’s property after a verbal argument.
