Driver Arrested for Felony DUI Following Late-Night Injury Collision

Occurred Date :          October 24th, 2025
Occurred Time:           11:30 PM
Location:                     S. McDowell Blvd / Caulfield Ln., Petaluma
Suspect:                      Rodrigo Rosales-Ramirez (22-year-old Petaluma Resident)

Petaluma, CA — On Friday, October 24, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Petaluma Police Dispatch received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a vehicle collision in the area of South McDowell Boulevard and Caulfield Lane. Callers indicated that a vehicle had collided with several parked cars and that the driver, identified as Rodrigo Rosales-Ramirez, appeared to be intoxicated.

Officers and Petaluma Fire Department personnel responded within minutes and located a heavily damaged vehicle that had struck four unoccupied parked vehicles along the roadway. Both Rosales-Ramirez and passenger were found inside the vehicle suffering from minor to moderate injuries. They were immediately provided medical attention and transported to local hospitals for evaluation and treatment.

Following an on-scene investigation, officers determined that Rosales-Ramirez had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Evidence gathered at the scene, combined with field sobriety testing, confirmed impairment. Upon being medically cleared, Rosales-Ramirez was placed under arrest and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on charges of felony driving under the influence resulting in injury (CVC 23153).

The passenger, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries, remains in stable condition. No other individuals were injured as a result of the collision.

Driving under the influence endangers everyone on the road. This crash could have had far more tragic consequences. Our officers remain committed to holding impaired drivers accountable and protecting our community from preventable harm.

The Petaluma Police Department continues to encourage all motorists to plan ahead before consuming alcohol. Utilize a designated driver, rideshare service, or public transportation to ensure a safe trip home. Impaired driving enforcement remains one of the department’s top priorities, particularly during weekends and nighttime hours when DUI-related incidents most commonly occur.

The case will be forwarded to the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
