LOCATION: Foothill Boulevard/ Vineyard Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga
SUSPECT(S): Darrell Dewayne McCoy, 49-year-old male, Resident of Rancho Cucamonga
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Saturday, October 25, 2025, at approximately 8:26 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station were actively patrolling in the area of Foothill Boulevard and Vineyard Avenue. Deputies observed a black Ford, traveling down the roadway, and conducted a traffic stop for California vehicle code violations.
Deputies made contact with the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle later identified as, Darrell Dewayne McCoy. During the investigation, deputies smelled a strong odor of suspected Marijuana emitting from the vehicle. During an inventory of the vehicle, deputies located a black plastic box which contained a loaded 9mm firearm with a live round in the chamber. Deputies located spare ammunition within the box.
Through further investigation, deputies learned McCoy is a documented gang member, and a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition.
McCoy was later arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for PC25850(A)-Carry a loaded firearm in public, PC29800(A)(1)- Felon in possession of a firearm, and PC30305(A)(1)-Prohibit to own ammo.
