Prescribed Burn Planned Near I-280 in Belmont - Tuesday, October 28
Please do not call 911 for smoke emanating from this area. It will be controlled and monitored.
CAL FIRE CZU, in partnership with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC), plans to conduct a prescribed burn on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, weather permitting. The 52-acre operation will take place between I-280 and St. James Road in Belmont as part of an ongoing vegetation management effort to reduce wildfire risk in the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI).
What to Expect:
* Smoke: Visible from I-280, Highway 92, Ralston Avenue, and nearby communities including San Mateo, Belmont, Hillsborough, San Carlos, and Redwood City.
* Trail Closure: Ralston Bike Trail will be closed between Ralston Ave and Cañada Rd during operations.
* Fire Activity: Crews, engines, hand crews, and aircraft will be working in the area throughout the day.
