Wilmington Police arrest man in connection to July fatal shooting incident following an investigation.
On July 21, at approximately 10:02 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 700 block of North Franklin Street, in reference to a shooting incident. Upon arrival, police located a shooting victim – 50-year-old Donnell Seeney – who was transported to the hospital in critical condition, and later succumbed to his injuries.
The case was assigned to Detective Derek Haines of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Haines identified 31-year-old Nicodemus Morris as a suspect. On September 2, the case was presented to the New Castle County Grand Jury, and an indictment was returned for Morris. On October 28, police executed a search warrant in the 500 block of West 24th Street, and took Morris into custody without incident.
Morris has been charged with the following offenses:
- Murder (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
