Wrong-Way Driver Charged with DUI and Drug Possession After Route 130 Crash
A 32-year-old man from Houston, Texas was charged early Sunday morning after driving the wrong way on Route 130 and causing a head-on collision that led to his arrest for driving under the influence and drug possession.
On Sunday, October 26, 2025, at approximately 2:05 a.m., Officer Justin Samuels responded to a two-vehicle crash near Route 130 and Route 32. Upon arrival, officers found a silver Kia Forte with heavy front-end damage disabled in the left lane of Route 130 North. The driver, identified as Gorge Placencia, 32, of Houston, Texas, had turned the wrong way out of the Traveler’s Inn parking lot, driving south in the northbound lanes.
The second vehicle sustained significant damage in the crash. The driver reported minor leg pain but declined medical transport.
During the investigation, Officer Samuels developed probable cause that Mr. Placencia had narcotics. A consent search of the vehicle recovered suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Field sobriety tests were conducted, and Mr. Placencia showed signs of impairment.
Mr. Placencia was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence, Reckless Driving, Marked Lanes, Wrong Way, and Improper Turn. He was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Mr. Placencia was transported to South Brunswick Police Department headquarters, processed, and released on a summons pending his first court appearance.
No serious injuries were reported in the crash.
