TWO IMPORTANT CHANGES IN DPW COLLECTIONS!

NEW SOLID WASTE ORDINANCE IN EFFECT
To ensure the safety of our collection crews and improve efficiency, the Borough of Leonia has adopted a new ordinance 2025-20 regarding garbage receptacles.  

• All solid waste must be placed in containers that are 32 gallons or less in size
• Each container must not exceed 50 pounds when full
• Do not leave out loose garbage bags – it is unsanitary and attracts unwanted pests. 

Residents have until January 1, 2026 to comply.  After January 1, 2026 oversized and/or overweight containers will NOT be collected and residents may face financial penalites.
 
CHANGES ARE COMING TO BULK TRASH COLLECTION
On January 1, 2026, the Borough will start a Bulk Trash Pilot Program:   Bulk Trash for the entire town will ONLY be collected monthly on the 2nd Thursday.
  Acceptable items:  Furniture, mattresses, & other household goods.
Unacceptable items:  Construction debris, electronics, metal, large household appliances, and hazardous materials will NOT be collected.
