Deputy Caleb Baliles with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 35-year-old Christopher Dwayne Lawing of Marion with felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was denied bond due to already being out on pretrial release.
On October 20, Deputy Baliles initiated a traffic stop on a Ford Ranger for a traffic violation. Lawing, the driver of the vehicle, did not pull over but continued driving for a short time before coming to a stop, and was found to be driving with a suspended license.
A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up suspected amounts of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
