Avoid flood-prone areas; Do not Drive Around Barricades; Secure loose objects
The National Weather Service (NWS) just issued a Flood Advisory for Hudson County, including Hoboken, through tonight. Due to heavy rain that exceeded prior forecasts and coincided with high tide, low-lying areas of the City are experiencing flooding, and barricades have been deployed. Residents are advised to avoid travel, if possible.
Avoid flood-prone areas
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) reminds residents to avoid flood-prone areas. Intense rainfall of greater than 0.8 inch per hour could result in flooding in low-lying areas, and more than 1.5 inches of rain just fell. Do not walk through floodwaters or drive around barricades or through flooded areas.
Barricades have been deployed. Do not walk or drive around barricades or through flooded areas. Do not attempt to drive around lowered gates.
Please report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.
High winds possible
Wind gusts of up to 55 mph are forecasted in in Hoboken at the height of the storm. Residents are asked to secure loose objects outside or bring them inside, especially from balconies.
Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines, resulting in power outages. Please report power outages and downed wires to PSEG at https://nj.myaccount.pseg.com/myservicepublic/outagepublic.
Remain alert, stay informed, and exercise caution
