DPW prepares for all storms by proactively clearing catch basins throughout the Borough.  However, we have 16 DPW staff and over 500 catch basins.  Today's storm brought down leaves and debris faster than the basins could be cleared.    

Help us to help you - if the storm drains on your streets appear to be  clogged with debris and leaves preventing water from flowing into the culverts, please carefully remove the debris with a rake.  This way DPW can address the more concerning items like fallen branches and the areas in town that are most prone to flooding.

On a related note, please do not blow leaves into streams and drains - this prevents water flow.  They are to be placed at the curb for collection.
