Intro to Transit for Older Adults, Wednesday, 11/5
NJTIP and Rutgers presents "Intro to Transit" a program that helps increase your knowledge about accessible public transportation options throughout Middlesex County.  This event will be held at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue from 10:00 - 11:00 am. To register, please email the Borough’s Social Worker, Nicole Huff at [email protected] with "NJTIP Event" in the subject line or call 732-819-0052 ext. 3115.

Highland Swing Orchestra Big Band Benefit Concert, Sunday, 11/9
The Highland Swing Orchestra will be sponsoring a benefit concert in support of the Highland Park Community Food Pantry, starting at 2:00 pm, at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue.  Admission cost is a $20 donation to be paid at the door, with all proceeds going to support the Highland Park Food Pantry.  Children are admitted free. Free coffee and cake will be served.

Veteran’s Day Parade, Tuesday, 11/11
The Borough encourages residents to come out and honor our veterans at  11:00 am with a ceremony at the Doughboy Monument on Raritan Avenue in Highland Park. After the ceremony, the parade will proceed down Raritan Ave into New Brunswick to Monument Square on George Street and Livingston Ave

Thanksgiving Food Drive, deadline, 11/17: The Highland Park Police Department, Fire Department and Zone 6 Teen Center is sponsoring a Thanksgiving Food Drive. To participate, residents can drop off non-perishable food items at the Highland Park Police Department lobby, 222 South 5th Avenue, now through November 17.

Flu Shot Clinic, Tuesday, 11/18
Saint Peter’s University Hospital Community Health Services is hosting a Flu Shot Clinic from 1:30 – 3:30 pm at Highland Park Community Center, 220 South Sixth Avenue.  Please bring primary and secondary insurance cards, and a photo identification card. Appointments are required, please call 732-819-0052 to make an appointment.  

Medicare & You, Wednesday, 11/19
Are you confused by your choices for Medicare? If so, please join the Borough’s Social Worker, Nicole Huff at 1:00 pm for an information session at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue.  During this session you will learn the difference between Medicare Parts A through D and have an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.  To register please call 732-819-0052 or visit the Community Center.

Borough Council Meeting, Tuesday, 11/25
The Mayor and Council hold their regularly scheduled meetings pursuant to the provisions of the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-8(b). Meetings are held in person at Borough Hall, 221 South 5th Avenue, Highland Park, NJ at 7:00 pm. As a convenience, the Borough provides the public the option to attend meetings remotely through Zoom. The meeting agenda and support materials are posted in Borough Hall and on the Borough website at least 48 hours before the scheduled meeting. 

Owl Holiday Markets, Saturday, 11/29 and Sunday, 11/30
Make a dent in your holiday shopping list at one of Main Street’s Highland Park’s upcoming Night Owl Holiday Markets at the Welkovits Pavillion, 212 Raritan Avenue from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm (Saturday) and from 1:00 pm – 5:00pm (Sunday). The market features many locally-based artists, artisans and crafters that make and sell their own unique goods

Ongoing Programs:
Free Groceries from H.P. Gives a Hoot, Tuesdays 11/4, 11/18, & 11/25 and Wednesdays 11/5, 11/12, 11/19 & 11/26
Highland Park Gives a Hoot offers free groceries to Highland Park families in need of support. Distributions are every Tuesday & Wednesday (except holidays) from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Zone 6 Teen Center, 600 Benner Street.
 
Food Pantry Distribution, Thursday 11/13, Tuesday 11/25 and Saturdays 11/15 & 11/29
The Highland Park Food Pantry distribution takes place at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 9 to 10:45 am and 6 to 7 pm and on the second and fourth Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Highland Park Recreation Programs
Highland Park Recreation offers a variety of adult, youth and fall programs. Families that qualify for free and reduced lunch are eligible for a 60% discount on all programs offered by the Borough.
 
Friday Farmers Market
The Highland Park Farmers Market is, bringing fresh, local, homemade products from farmers and vendors across New Jersey. The market is open every Friday through December 12; from 11 to 4 pm in February, March, November, and December; and until 5 pm from April through October. Shop for farm-fresh produce, baked goods, artisanal products, and more while supporting local businesses and enjoying a vibrant community atmosphere.
