Altadena Forever Run – A Run For and Through Altadena

The Altadena Forever Run winds through the quiet foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, where resilience and renewal are woven into the landscape itself. One year after the Eaton Fire blackened the ridges above our town, this inaugural run stands as a powerful symbol of recovery. The course now showcases Altadena’s remarkable renewal, the green shoots rising through ash, the golden light breaking across Eaton Canyon, and a community running forward together.

This is more than a race. It’s a tribute: to those who lost, those who helped, and those who are rebuilding. Proceeds from the Altadena Forever Run directly support Altadena Eaton Fire survivors, through the Altadena Eaton Fire Relief Fund, a GoFundMe 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, helping families restore what was lost and strengthen what endures. The race also helps support the Sheriff's Support Group of Altadena, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your participation, your sponsorship, your presence, each is an act of solidarity and hope.

The Course
Runners begin on Mariposa Street, shaded by Altadena’s iconic deodar cedars in the heart of our historic district. From there, the course climbs gently toward the foothills along Altadena Drive, winding through tree-lined neighborhoods, where century-old Craftsman homes once stood. The route touches the very edges of the burn zone, where chaparral is already reclaiming the hillsides. The scent of sage and pine drifts through the cool morning air, a reminder that even after devastation, life returns stronger.

1K Family Walk/Run (0.62 mile):
Starting at El Molino Avenue and heading west past the Altadena Library before looping back to Mariposa Street, this short, joyful course is perfect for families and children to share in the spirit of the day.

5K Walk/Run (3.1 miles):
Extending into the lower foothill neighborhoods east of Lake Avenue, this course brings runners and walkers through streets lined with volunteers and cheering residents, each voice a testament to Altadena’s unity, renewal, and pride.

10K Run (6.2 miles):
The full 10K follows the 5K route, offering spectacular views of the San Gabriel Mountains before returning toward the historic Mariposa business district. The course then turns west, guiding participants past neighborhoods in various stages of rebuilding, a moving portrait of perseverance, where homes under construction stand as symbols of endurance and hope. The run passes Charles White Park before finishing triumphantly back on Mariposa Street.

The entire event is held on a closed course, ensuring a safe, festive, and family-friendly experience for all.
