The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from October 19 to October 25.
October 19th
Theft - 1000 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 7:46 PM, an officer reports an unknown suspect stole the victim’s bicycle.
Possession of a Dirk or Dagger- El Cerrito Plaza:
At 2:30 AM, an officer was conducting a security check and contacted a subject and found them in possession of a dirk/dagger. The subject was issued a citation and released at the scene.
October 20th
Petty Theft – 6500 Block of Portola Dr
At 10:51 AM, the victim reported their license plate stolen.
Possession of Stolen Property, Possession of Identifying Information with Intent to Defraud, Conspiracy, Obstruction of Officers, Possession of Narcotics and Narcotics Equipment – Donal Ave and Lawrence St
At 12:10 PM, Officers arrested two subjects for the above-mentioned crimes after a traffic enforcement stop. Both subjects were transported to county jail.
Petty Theft – 6500 Block of Barrett Ave
At 2:32 PM, the victim reported their license plates stolen.
Public Intoxication - Blake St / Kearney St.
At 8:28 PM, officers arrested a subject for being intoxicated in a public place. The subject was transported to county jail.
October 21st
Battery – 7100 Block of Portola Dr
An officer took a report of a fight that had occurred the day before in front of the Invictus Academy.
Vandalism – 6500 Block of Moeser Ln.
At 4:22 PM, the victim reported an individual broke their front door. The subject fled prior to police arrival.
Warrant Arrest – Fairmount Ave / Liberty St.
At 11:08 PM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on an outstanding warrant. The subject was released at the scene on a citation.
Grand Theft / Conspiracy / Burglary Tools – Colusa Ave / Hotchkiss Ave.
At 3:47 AM, officers responded to a suspicious circumstance in the area. Officers located four subjects who were arrested for stealing Halloween decorations. All four subjects were transported to county jail.
October 22nd
Petty Theft – 7000 Block of Carol Ct
At 10:19 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was broken into overnight and items were stolen.
Petty Theft – 11821 San Pablo Ave (McDonalds)
At 11:17 AM, the victim reports their bicycle was stolen from in front of the establishment.
Tampering with a Vehicle – 1600 Block of Roger Ct.
At 1:08 PM, the victim reports their vehicle was entered overnight, but nothing was taken.
Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave / Potrero Ave.
At 1:56 AM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver for driving while intoxicated. The subject was booked at ECPD and later released on a citation.
October 23rd
Officers partnered with sevearl businesses in the El Cerrito Plaza to conduct a retail theft operation. During the operation five subjects were taken into custody by the El Cerrito Police Department.
October 24th
Shoplift - 11048 San Pablo Ave (Harbor Freight):
At 6:03 PM, officers were dispatched to the business for a subject who has stolen in the past. Upon arrival an employee and officers detained the subject as she exited the business with concealed merchandise. The subject was placed under Citizen’s Arrest and transported to the El Cerrito Police Department for booking. After booking, the subject was issued a citation and released.
October 25th
Driving Under the Influence/Unlicensed Driver- Richmond St/ Central Ave:
At 10:52 PM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for driving while under the influence. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, the driver was issued a citation and released to the custody of a sober friend.
