Investigation of early morning shooting on Hilton Head

Shortly after 1:30 a.m. this morning, Sunday, November 2, 2025, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Communications center received reports of a gunshot victim in the area of South Forest Beach Drive on Hilton Head. When deputies arrived, they found one 17-year-old male victim on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.

Hilton Head Island Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the victim for treatment of their injuries. While on scene deputies quickly learned that the suspects fled in a vehicle. The description of the vehicle was given to other deputies.

 A vehicle was observed matching the description of the suspect vehicle. Deputies attempted to pull the vehicle over, but it attempted to flee from deputies. Deputies were able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device which ended the pursuit near Sunday Ford Drive on Hilton Head.

Multiple occupants in the vehicle were detained. After further investigation, two suspects were arrested and transported to the Beaufort County Detention Center.

18-year-old, Erick Alexander Martinez Ambrosio of Bluffton, was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and aggravated breach of peace. 17-year-old, Jonathan Ambrosio Reyes of Bluffton, was charged with fleeing to evade arrest, failure to stop for blue lights, and accessory after the fact of attempted murder.

Deputies later learned of a second victim, 18-year-old male, who was transported to the hospital by another person prior to deputies arrival to the scene.

The circumstances that led up to this shooting are still under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the lead investigator, Master Sergeant Seifert, 843-255-3414.

Law enforcement presence may still be observed in areas of Hilton Head in relation to this case, but there is no ongoing threat to the public.
