Deputy Gioia Holland with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 52-year-old Tony Russell Buchanan of Marion with felony Possession of a Firearm by Felon. He was issued a secured bond of $5,000.
On Oct. 15, Deputy Holland responded to a residence in Marion regarding a missing firearm.
The victim reported that the firearm had been removed from where it was stored in the home and that Buchanan, who lived with the victim, was suspected of taking it.
A search of the suspect’s bedroom turned up the missing weapon, a Ruger LCP .380.
Buchanan, who is already a convicted felon, is not allowed to possess a firearm in the state of North Carolina.
