Structure Fire with Fatalities

On November 3rd, 2025, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Redwood City firefighters responded to reports of an active fire at Avenue Liquor Store on Roosevelt Avenue. Crews arrived to find the building fully engulfed in flames and immediately began efforts to contain the fire.

During suppression efforts, firefighters opening the roof observed what appeared to be two individuals inside the structure. Both showed no signs of life and appeared to have sustained severe burns. Fire personnel notified police, and officers responded to assist and secure the scene.

Once it was deemed safe to enter, officers and investigators confirmed the presence of two deceased individuals. Their identities have not been confirmed, and it is unknown at this time whether they were living inside the store or why they were there when the fire began.

The store owner has been contacted and is cooperating with investigators. This remains an active joint investigation involving the Redwood City Fire Department, Redwood City Police Department, and the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones affected by this tragic incident.
