Bartlett Charged with Burning Personal Property
Detective Michael Vaughn with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 40-year-old Jeremiah Nathan Bartlett of Marion with felony Burning Personal Property and Misdemeanor Communicating Threats. He was denied bond due to the incident being domestic violence-related.
On October 27, deputies responded to a call from fire and EMS crews about a male subject walking away from the area of a structure fire. Bartlett was stopped nearby.
An investigation led to the determination that Bartlett had started the fire after a verbal altercation with his wife which led to him sending video footage and threatening texts to her, confirming that he started the fire.
Sheriff Ricky T. Buchanan would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance with this incident: Marion Fire Department along with Glenwood, Nebo and Dysartsville fire departments; McDowell EMS, McDowell Rescue Squad and McDowell County Fire Marshal’s Office.
