DETAILS: **update Monday, November 3, 2025 -Following the completion of the autopsy and continued investigation in collaboration with the Amarillo Fire Marshal’s Office, Luis Anguel Rico, male, age 46, has been charged with Murder in connection with the fire death investigation of James Sosa. Rico has been booked into the Potter County Jail.
**update Wednesday, October 29, 2025- The victim from the RV fire on Monday has been identified as James Valdez Sosa, age 46. His family has been notified of his death. Investigation is ongoing.

On Monday, October 27, 2025, at 4:53am, Officers were dispatched to NW 5th and Lamar on a trailer fire. Upon arrival the RV trailer was fully engulfed. Officers began securing the scene and evacuating neighboring homes until Fire arrived to extinguish the fire. Once the fire was out, firefighters found a deceased person inside. Witnesses reported seeing someone walking away from the trailer and seeing smoke, which prompted them to call it in. Fire Marshalls/Homicide/CSI were contacted and arrived on scene. Investigation is still on going at this time.
